Join Penn State Berks' celebration of Hispanic American Month at our annual Latino Forum! The Keynote speaker is Javier Avila, a professor of English, a poet, novelist, and public speaker. His work has earned him numerous awards, including his most recent honor as the recipient of the Cultural Arts Award from the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education. In 2015, he was named Pennsylvania’s Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation. Avila takes his classroom to the masses, using the power of storytelling to deliver a powerful message about unity and inclusion, and takes the audience on a journey as he moves between cultures. Pizza will be served (for high schools) following the talk in the MPR.

El orador principal es Javier Ávila, profesor de inglés, poeta, novelista y orador público. Su trabajo le ha valido numerosos premios, el más reciente siendo el Premio de Artes Culturales de la Asociación Americana de Hispanos en la Educación Superior. En 2015, fue nombrado Profesor del Año de Pensilvania por la Fundación Carnegie.
